The Great Big Rhino Project will be coming to Exeter in July 2016
Exeter BID has become the latest business to sponsor a rhino, as part of Paignton Zoo’s exciting new trail for Summer 2016. The project aims to raise awareness and funds to help Critically Endangered rhinos by creating a trail of individually designed rhino sculptures. Exeter BID has selected artist Sophie Green, to design and produce the Rhino, which will be called ‘Charge’.
Craig Bulley, Exeter BID CEO, says: “We’re very proud to be supporting Paignton Zoo with its second event. The Great Big Rhino Project will not only raise awareness for the amazing conservation work that Paignton Zoo has been supporting for a number of years, but will create a fun and enjoyable event for everyone visiting Exeter and its surrounding areas.”
The rhinos will launch on Saturday 30th July 2016 and will stay for 10 weeks. They will then be sent to the Riviera International Conference Centre in Torquay for The Great Big Rhino Charity Auction.
Paignton Zoo has been supporting rhino conservation in Africa for many years, with three of five species of rhino now defined as ‘Critically Endangered’. Money raised by the Great Big Rhino Project will be channelled through Save the Rhino International and used to support anti-poaching patrols, to help with breeding programmes and for habitat restoration
