Rhino Why The Caged Bird Sings

Rhino Why The Caged Bird Sings
Artist: Sue Guthrie
Sponsor: Living Coasts

This rhino shows a caged bird against a painted sunset, surrounded by the silhouettes of joyous birds in flight. The bird’s song is represented by notes which are painted in gold leaf. It uses both traditional painting and spray painting methods. The rhino refers to the 1969 Maya Angelou autobiography.
